All commands must be run in an administrative Windows Command Prompt (CMD) window.
Step 1: Prepare the Installation of UniFi Network Server
First, ensure that UniFi Network Server is installed on your Windows 10 machine.
- Download UniFi Network Server from the Ubiquiti’s official download page.
- Install UniFi Network Server, and run it the first time to configure it if necessary.
Step 2: Use the installsvc
Command
UniFi Network Server installation includes a tool to help install it as a service using the installsvc
command.
Open Command Prompt as Administrator:
- Search for Command Prompt in the Start menu, right-click it, and select Run as administrator.
1. Remove existing service (if any), by running this command:
sc.exe delete "UniFi"
2. Change the directory to the location of UniFi installation:
cd "%UserProfile%\Ubiquiti UniFi\"
3. Once in the root of the UniFi folder, run this command to install the service:
java -jar lib\ace.jar installsvc
4. Wait for the installation to complete, indicated by the Complete Installation log message.
5. Start the service with this command:
java -jar lib\ace.jar startsvc
Step 3: Verify that UniFi Network Server is Running as a Service
1. Open Services:

- Search for Services in the Start menu and select Services.
2. Find the UniFi service in the list. It should now be installed as a service and running.
3. If the service isn’t running, you can right-click on the UniFi service and select Start.
Step 4: Test Automatic Startup
1. Restart your computer.
2. After the computer restarts, UniFi Network Server should start automatically as a service without requiring manual intervention.
