{"id":1,"date":"2023-01-04T09:52:04","date_gmt":"2023-01-04T09:52:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cm3.dk\/?p=1"},"modified":"2025-03-10T11:46:42","modified_gmt":"2025-03-10T11:46:42","slug":"run-unifi-network-server-as-a-service-in-windows-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cm3.dk\/index.php\/2023\/01\/04\/run-unifi-network-server-as-a-service-in-windows-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Run UniFi Network Server as a service in Windows 10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>All commands must be run in an <strong>administrative<\/strong> Windows Command Prompt (CMD) window.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 1: Prepare the Installation of UniFi Network Server<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"191\" data-end=\"275\">First, ensure that <strong data-start=\"210\" data-end=\"234\">UniFi Network Server<\/strong> is installed on your Windows 10 machine.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong data-start=\"280\" data-end=\"313\">Download UniFi Network Server<\/strong> from the <a href=\"https:\/\/ui.com\/download\/releases\/network-server\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"323\" data-end=\"393\">Ubiquiti&#8217;s official download page<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong data-start=\"398\" data-end=\"430\">Install UniFi Network Server<\/strong>, and run it the first time to configure it if necessary.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Step 2: Use the <code data-start=\"509\" data-end=\"521\">installsvc<\/code> Command<\/h3>\n<p>UniFi Network Server installation includes a tool to help install it as a service using the <strong data-start=\"622\" data-end=\"638\"><code data-start=\"624\" data-end=\"636\">installsvc<\/code><\/strong> command.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"652\" data-end=\"693\">Open <strong data-start=\"657\" data-end=\"692\">Command Prompt as Administrator<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"652\" data-end=\"693\">Search for <strong data-start=\"710\" data-end=\"728\">Command Prompt<\/strong> in the Start menu, right-click it, and select <strong data-start=\"775\" data-end=\"799\">Run as administrator<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1. Remove existing service (if any), by running this command:<\/p>\n<pre>sc.exe delete \"UniFi\"<\/pre>\n<p>2. Change the directory to the location of UniFi installation:<\/p>\n<pre>cd \"%UserProfile%\\Ubiquiti UniFi\\\"<\/pre>\n<p>3. Once in the root of the UniFi folder, run this command to install the service:<\/p>\n<pre>java -jar lib\\ace.jar installsvc<\/pre>\n<p>4. Wait for the installation to complete, indicated by the Complete Installation log message.<\/p>\n<p>5. Start the service with this command:<\/p>\n<pre>java -jar lib\\ace.jar startsvc<\/pre>\n<h3 data-start=\"1446\" data-end=\"1514\">Step 3: Verify that UniFi Network Server is Running as a Service<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1518\" data-end=\"1536\">1. Open <strong data-start=\"1523\" data-end=\"1535\">Services<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul data-start=\"1540\" data-end=\"1608\">\n<li data-start=\"1540\" data-end=\"1608\">Search for <strong data-start=\"1553\" data-end=\"1565\">Services<\/strong> in the Start menu and select <strong data-start=\"1595\" data-end=\"1607\">Services<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2. Find the <strong data-start=\"1622\" data-end=\"1631\">UniFi<\/strong> service in the list. It should now be installed as a service and running.<\/p>\n<p>3. If the service isn&#8217;t running, you can right-click on the <strong data-start=\"1767\" data-end=\"1776\">UniFi<\/strong> service and select <strong data-start=\"1796\" data-end=\"1805\">Start<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1808\" data-end=\"1842\">Step 4: Test Automatic Startup<\/h3>\n<p>1. Restart your computer.<\/p>\n<p>2.
